King of Darkness by Elisabeth Staab

4/5 stars

Thad, the vampire king, needs to fulfill a prophesy of finding his mate to unlock his powers so he can lead his people and keep them safe against the wizards. After looking for her for weeks he finds her in a club and finds she's not to willing to accept the whole prophesied mating thing. Though they are attracted to each other the real test is whether they can make it work. After having to flee to Thad's compound Isabel finally realizes that in order to survive she needs to take the biggest chance of her life and trust in Thad.

What a cool new series this is turning out to be. There are vampires and humans of course, but the enemy this time is wizards. Not just any wizards, but dark, power stealing, vile wizards. I'm really looking forward to more books in this series, because there are a couple of really good characters that I'd like to read more about and I'd like a chance to see more of the world this book took place in. For a debut novel it had me hooked and wanting more so I'd really recommend this to anyone looking for something new in this genre.
